Editor’s note: Dr. Franz Hartmann disputes a claim in the Zentralblatt für Okkultismus that H. P. Blavatsky hated Christianity, clarifying that she opposed priestly rule and distortions of Christian truths.

Dear editors!

The Zentralblatt für Okkultismus [Central Journal for Occultism] is very successful; only what Dr. Grävell writes in No. 1 of this year about H. P. Blavatsky, that she hated Christianity, is not true. (See e.g. “The Secret Doctrine” Vol. III p. 143 etc.) She only fought against priestly rule and the distortion of Christian truths in favor of church rule.
