Post-scriptum.
F. Hartmann.
Translation from the French:
Postscript. — I am enclosing with my own a letter I have just received from Dr. F. Hartmann, author of White and Black Magic.
“Dear Madame Johnston,
“Regarding our conversation concerning the manner in which S.D. was written, I can state that in April 1885—while accompanying H.P.B. on her voyage from Madras to Europe aboard the steamship Tibre—I observed that, while at sea, she very frequently received—through some occult process—numerous handwritten pages relating to S.D., the materials for which she was already assembling at that time.
Miss Flynes was with us and knows more about this matter than I do, as I paid little heed to the occurrence—the reception of occult correspondence having become a daily occurrence for us.
F. Hartmann.
