Theosophical Correspondence.
Translation from German by Robert Hutwohl[1]
Question: — Is faith healing a new invention?
Answer: — No! It is actually a state institution; for a long time now, according to regulations, the churches have been making requests to the Most High to ensure the well-being of the “most high” rulers. In addition, there are associations in the churches where prayers can be ordered. For example, in the list of the Innsbruck newspaper, Der Kinderfreund (January 1905) we find the following requests for prayers: “For the physical and spiritual needs of a mother of a family. (Submitted: Kr. 10.—.) — For the conversion of a wayward son (Kr. 6.50). — For a change for two seriously ill people (Kr. 1.—). — A place for a young boy. — Conversion of a seduced girl and transfer of the seducer. — For the favorable sale of a house with a grocery store in Salzburg. — For the success of a press company, etc.”
